joelbush: As part of his building crusade, Dylan Ratigan carried FireflyLED from The Regulars to Jimmy Fallon’s show. Pretty dang cool, eh?

Thought this was interesting - can’t believe there is so much complexity with shoe selection.

Austin 2010 Half Marathon
Ran my first real ‘race’ this weekend and I am officially hooked.  Never would have thought it, but the atmosphere of a big race (15,000 registrants) and huge spectator crowds all over the course was a huge plus.  Before running this half, I was pretty sure that I would not have much interest in taking the big next step to the full.  I completely changed my mind on Sunday.  I am...

Advanced Garmin Workouts
I used the Forerunner 305 Advanced Workout feature for this morning’s intervals: 1.5 mile warmup at 9:00-10:00/mile pace 1.0 mile at 8:00/mile pace 1 minute rest Repeat steps 2-3 4 times 1.5 mile easy 9:00-10:00 pace I had to read the manual to figure out how to do it, but it worked very well.  Pretty cool that it will not only tell you when step are complete, but it will also...

First run with the Forerunner 305
So I used my new toy on my long run on Sunday (11.15 miles) and it works as advertised.  I am officially hooked.  Garmin Connect (their reporting/community site) is very cool as well.  Does not have all of the functionality of Sport Tracks (PC only) but I am confident it will serve my purposes just fine. All I need now is the ability to upload the Garmin Connect info to Dailymile. Here are a...

– This is an excerpt from Home Game by Michael Lewis.  Joel gave me the book for Christmas and I could not put it down.  While reading in bed over the last couple of nights I could not contain my laughter to the annoyance of my wife, who also had to listen to me read particularly funny parts aloud...

Jonesing for a Garmin Forerunner 305
Ever since Juan told me about the Garmin Forerunner GPS watches and what they can do, I have had trouble getting it out of my mind.  Reviews like this don’t make it any easier for me.  To make matters worse, they are sold out EVERYWHERE except Amazon who is selling it for $100 more than anyone else (probably because they are hard to come by). Anyway, I found someone in Austin who is...

Headed for the hills
Need 10 more miles to log 100 for the month.  Juan gave me an easy week last week in advance of a hard one that will include real hills for the first time.  I am meeting Joel at 6:00am at under Mopac on Town Lake to start the 4 mile loop.  The profile might not look like much, but for a newby flatlander like me it is going to be hard work :) I found this mapping tool on the USA Track and Field...

An Experiment...
So there are a couple of reasons and inspirations behind my decision to open a tumblr account and start typing….. First and foremost, a friend of mine named Joel has been on me about it for solid year and I wanted to a) get him off my back and b) see if he was right in his conviction that anyone can start a blog for the greater good.  I guess we will see. Second, I have been looking for a...
